Every day we make websites. And every day we have to check a lot of things in order to make websites that are naturally SEO optimized, fast, usable and beautifull. Here’s a first todo list to remember things that are needeed by any professional staff.

1 — Write valid XHTML & CSS code

Respects the standards, because search engines’ bots respects them to read your content.

2 — Inform the meta tags

They give information about your site to the robots. Why don’t use tools you already have ?

3 — Use non-intrusive Javascript

Major bots don’t execute Javascript. Make so that they can read all your content.

4 — Use flash with parcimony

Flash is really badly read by search engines. Always inform the <noscript> tag and don’t use it for titles.

5 — No divity, and limited use of tables

Consider a search engine’s bot as a blind man : it can’t see the visual structure of the site and read it in the order of the code. Prefer use of heading tags and lists. Divity make your site heavy and not affordable for a bot.

6 — Construct SITEMAP.xml files

As above, bots will easily and rapidly read and index your files if you respect this. In fact, you have to use the tools of the search engines : they are assets in your sleeve.

7 — Make a well-structured site

Indeed, bots will easily find your content thus. And your readers too.

8 — Respect your subject

If you don’t respect your subject, you multiply the keywords. You must use multiple keywords, but if they have no link, why don’t make multiple websites ?

9 — Respect a 5 to 10 percent of keywords in the text

Using too much keywords exposes you to be black-listed by search engines. Using not enough one limits the interest of the bots for your content. Choose the happy medium with those two extremes : betwen 5 and 10 percent.

10 — Update regulary

Robots don’t come each day on your site. Force them reindex regulary by posting with regularity.

The most important thing you must remain is that making all those things allows you to easily develop your consumer loyalty. Making your websites for SEO is making better websites for prospects.
